I am not a sporty kinda gal.
I have never really been 'into' them, either through participation or being a fan of a certain sport and following it in the news or on the television.
Maybe I am just lazy and certainly my body would tell you that sport and I do not embrace each other very often, if at all since I had the boys.
The only sport I consider myself to have ever been good at was / is (not that I have been for some time) swimming. One day I hope to get myself back into the pool on a regular basis and kick start my body to get it back into some sort of shape, and to improve my overall fitness.
Until then I have to make do with seeing my boys enjoy the swimming pool. As some of you may know, Burton is like fish! Seriously, he has no fear of the water and jumps in at the deep end with complete abandonment and, despite swallowing far too much water, laughs and splashes about and ducks his head under the water willy nilly. He often floats in the water while only holding onto the woggle now too!
He first started going swimming when he was 6 months old and his daddy has taught him to love the water - he could actually swim before he could talk!
Now he can actually swim without arm bands, not very far you understand but he can jump in at the deep end and swim to the steps. He can also swim arm band free from the side to daddy or I if we float a few metres away from him. He has been able to hold his breath and swim down under the water at the deep end, with daddy holding him, to the bottom of the pool to collect diving sticks and rings - he has been doing this since he was 2 years old!

It is such a shame that we are not allowed to take photos in the pool, because I have no record of his swimming achievements. The only 'recent' swimming photos I have of him are from last September when he was 26 months old when daddy sneaked an underwater camera into the pool!!! Hence, why the same picture appear on my blog whenever I have mentioned about Burton and his love of swimming!
This is my favourite shot that was captured that day
I know that some of you have already seen this before, but here is a video clip taken that same day last September showing what I have described above (and he still wasn't talking back then!!)
I am linking this up to The Gallery where the theme is SPORT

I love that video and the photos are great! Maybe Burton will be the new Phelps...who knows!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to see children love doing something like that, and some amazing footage of Burton there! Sophia adores swimming and has been able to do it from an early age too. At 3-years-old she's now getting some proper swimming lessons and has informed me that she wants to be a swimmer when she grows up :-). Hope Burton keeps enjoying the water as he gets older
ReplyDeleteThose photos are AMAZING!! The video is lovely too, it is the same here; I am not overly keen on sport but the boys love it, which is fantastic! They love swimming too which is great as I really hate it so I have to grit my teeth when I take them!
ReplyDeleteLove it, love swimming. Gorgeous pics x.
